About Emily
Emily is a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP) who obtained her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northern Illinois University in 2019.
Emily’s goal is to help you feel comfortable, empowered to work towards your goals, develop autonomy, and build a life worth living. Emily believes this can be achieved through a collaborative therapeutic relationship, a genuine and vulnerable connection, and open and honest communication.
This quote, by Ashleigh Warner, describes Emily’s approach to her therapeutic work: “beneath every behavior there is a feeling, and beneath every feeling there is a need. When we meet that need rather than focus on the behavior, we begin to deal with the cause, not the symptom.”
When working with Emily, you can expect someone who is transparent, understanding, collaborative, kind, and focused on helping you reach the goals you set for yourself. Her therapeutic approach is one based in Person-Centered Counseling, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Narrative Therapy.
